A Dubai court convicted two men for their roles in the assassination of a former Chechen general and sentenced both to 25 years in prison. The men were accused of aiding and abetting in the murder of Sulim B. Yamadayev, who was shot dead in the garage of an apartment complex in Dubai with a Russian-made handgun in 2009. They were identified as Mahsoudjan Asmanov of Tajikistan and Mahdi Tagi Dhurnia of Iran. Mr. Yamadayev, a former Chechen general who had fallen out of favor with Chechnya’s Kremlin-backed president, Ramzan Kadyrov, had been living in Dubai under an assumed name. The Dubai police have accused four other suspects, including Adam Delimkhanov, an adviser to Mr. Kadyrov, who they say organized the killing.A Dubai court convicted two men for their roles in the assassination of a former Chechen general and sentenced both to 25 years in prison.
