The Israeli police and Palestinian youths clashed at a Jerusalem holy site on Friday after the youths threw stones at Jewish worshipers, according to the police. About 15 officers were lightly injured, a police spokesman said, while Palestinian news agencies reported up to 50 youths slightly hurt. The confrontation occurred at the plaza known to Muslims as the Holy Sanctuary and to Jews as the Temple Mount. Tempers have flared and rocks have been thrown in Jerusalem and in the West Bank city of Hebron since an Israeli declaration that two holy sites in the West Bank would be renovated as part of a group of Israeli national heritage sites.
