Kabul British special forces in Afghanistan have seized 48 powerful Iranian rockets destined for Taliban fighters. The haul was the strongest evidence yet of an escalation in Tehran's support, officials said. The rockets, hidden in three trucks, were intercepted in Nimroz, which borders Iran. "I am extremely concerned by the latest evidence that Iran continues to supply the Taliban with weaponry -weapons clearly intended to provide the Taliban with the capability to kill Afghan and [NATO] soldiers from significant range," said William Hague, the Foreign Secretary. The rockets have a range of 20 km, more than twice that of the Taliban's commonly used 107-mm missiles.
