"I am working to see that the case of the alleged Mossad agent does not harm Polish-Israeli relations," Tusk said, adding that "the matter is delicate, due to the historical association."

Polish prosecutor Monika Lewandowska, said the suspect should be brought before a judge today, for extradition to Germany. He has already been remanded in custody for 40 days. The Polish prosecution said there was no question of acceding to political interference in the process

Uri Brodsky, or someone using that name, was involved in a fraudulent application for a German passport used by one of a team alleged to have killed Hamas operative Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in Dubai. UAE police have alleged the team were Mossad assassins using foreign passports.

Britain, Ireland and Australia have already expelled Israeli diplomats in the aftermath of the attack.
