Judges trying Slobodan Milosevic, the former Yugoslav leader, withdrew their proposal to split his war crimes trial, now in its fourth year, into two parts, forgoing the possibility of an early verdict on charges related to the Kosovo war in 1999. The trial will now proceed, encompassing that war as well as the wars in Bosnia and Croatia. The court also refused to give Mr. Milosevic the extra time he wanted to bring in 200 more witnesses. Further, it turned down his request to travel to Moscow during the Christmas recess to treat his heart problems.
