British police officials said Monday that they arrested a former senior Bosnian leader on war crimes charges on behalf of the Serbian authorities. The Metropolitan Police said it arrested Ejup Ganic, 63, left, at Heathrow Airport in London as he was trying to leave the country. Serbia had requested Mr. Ganic’s extradition, saying he had conspired to murder wounded soldiers in a breach of one of the Geneva Conventions, the police said. Serbia has issued arrest warrants against Mr. Ganic and 18 others for a 1992 attack on a Yugoslav Army convoy in Sarajevo in which more than 40 soldiers were killed. After Serbia submits more paperwork, a court will determine whether Mr. Ganic will be extradited, the Foreign Office said.
