Hundreds of passengers were evacuated from a train in the Netherlands on Tuesday and cleared from the station where it had stopped after witnesses reported a man threatening to blow it up, Dutch police said.

Spokeswoman Marika Stewart said the man was taken into custody from the station in Den Bosch, and investigators with dogs were searching the train. No explosives were found, she said.

The NOS broadcaster quoted witnesses as saying the man shouted "God is great," and said he had a bomb, although no bomb could be seen.

Early reports said a bomb had been found, but Stewart said that was incorrect.

No information about the suspect's identity was available.
