Three churches were attacked with firebombs on Friday amid a growing conflict over the use of the word “Allah” by non-Muslims, officials said. Protests by Muslims are planned in this Muslim-majority country later Friday against a court verdict that struck down a ban on the use of the word “Allah” by non-Muslims in their literature. The government is appealing the verdict. Prime Minister Najib Razak condemned the attacks. The office in one church was destroyed, and Molotov cocktails were thrown into the compounds of two other churches, causing minor damage in one and none in the other. No injuries were reported. Muslims contend that “Allah” is exclusive to Islam.
