The police arrested five men on Monday in connection with what was described as “the incitement of terrorism overseas.” The men, ages 21 to 62, were arrested in raids before dawn in the northern cities of Manchester and Bolton, and at a hotel near Heathrow Airport in London. The police statement gave no further details of the plot or the men’s identities. “This is a complex and ongoing operation, which has now reached the point where it was necessary to make arrests,” said Assistant Chief Constable Dave Thompson of the Greater Manchester Police.
