The second trial of Mikhail B. Khodorkovsky, a prominent foe of Prime Minister Vladimir V. Putin and former oligarch, opened Tuesday in Moscow with Mr. Khodorkovsky denouncing the proceedings.

His lawyers said they wanted to call senior officials to testify, including Mr. Putin.

Mr. Khodorkovsky is accused of embezzling billions of dollars from his former oil company, Yukos. He is already serving an eight-year prison sentence on other charges.
