TV Globo (Brazil) & Pro TV News (Romania) Nominated For the Second Consecutive Year
New York, August 13, 2008 – The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced today the nominees for the 2008 News and Current Affairs categories. Winners will be announced at a Ceremony at the Frederick P. Rose Hall of Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City on September 22, 2008. The international winners will be honored alongside their American news and documentary counterparts.
This is the first time ever that a program from Al Jazeera is nominated for an International Emmy Award. Al Jazeera’s English language channel was nominated both in the Current Affairs and News Categories.
TV Globo (Brazil) is nominated in both news categories for the second year in a row.
“Independent jurors from many nations have selected programs from organizations as diverse as Al Jazeera, TV Globo and ITV to compete for the International Emmy- further proof that a new standard of excellence in television journalism is rapidly developing around the world,“ said Bruce L. Paisner, President & CEO of The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, also President of Hearst Entertainment.
